The first in a course of six lectures on Old Greek Comedy by Professor B. L. Gildersleeve of Johns Hopkins University, was given yesterday afternoon in Harvard 1. The subject was: "Introductory-The Study of Aristophanes." Professor Gildersleeve spoke interestingly of the development of the Greek comedy and the leading characteristics of Aristophanes, with parallels from modern life.

The second lecture in the course will be given this afternoon on the subject, "The Language of Aristophanes." Today's lecture will be open to members of the University only.
