The contributions toward the $35,000 necessary to carry out the proposed scheme of making a park of the Lowell estate on Brattle street, have come in rather slowly and the sum is now slightly over $21,000. The Cambridge Park Commission has long been considering the proposal of paying a third of the amount, and if they should decide to do so, only a small figure would remain. It has been suggested to make an appeal to students, as was done in the case of the Long fellow Park, on the grounds that Lowell was one of the most distinguished graduates of Harvard, and took a strong interest in student life.
