The Cercle Francais held its annual meeting last evening in the Colonial Club. Professor de Sumichrast presided. He definitely informed the club that Professor Frederic Brunetiere of the French Academy, the editor of the "Revue des Deux Mondes," has accepted the Cercle's invitation to lecture at Harvard some time between April 3 and 18. The lectures are to be given in Sanders Theatre and seats are to be reserved for members and students.
The following were then elected officers for the ensuing year:
President, H. W. Cram '97.
Vice-president, J. H. Hyde '98.
Secretary, L. L. Gillespie '98.
Treasurer, Norton Perkins '98.
Faculty member of the executive committee, Professor de Sumichrast.
The chairman then went on to state that rehearsals for the play of this year, "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme," were progressing rapidly. J. W. Frothingham '99 and R. Pulitzer 1900 have been definitely assigned to the parts of Lucille and Dorimene respectively. There are to be four dances. The music is being composed by C. L. Smith '97 and will be performed by the Pierian Sodality.
The play will be given in Cambridge at Brattle Hall on March 29 and April 3, and in Boston at Copley Hall on March 31. There will also be a dress rehearsal in Cambridge on March 27.
Any men having a speaking knowledge of French and wishing minor parts should send in their names to the manager, 32 Ware Hall.
