NEW HAVEN, CONN., Nov. 16, 1897.- The Yale 'varsity had today one of the stiffest practices of the year. For 45 minutes the work was done in secret; the public was admitted for the remaining half hour of practice.
Marshall was in again at left guard; Chadwick, who has had that position, watched the play from the side lines. Dudley has been away for a time but has returned to New Haven and is playing left halfback.
The 'varsity lined up against the second eleven for a practice game and except at the very beginning, were able to rush the second down the field at will. The several coaches devoted themselves to the perfection of the offensive play of the team.
