PROVIDENCE, R. I., Jan 19.- The ice polo team defeated the Brown University team in the first game of the series at Providence today by the score of 5 to 0. The Harvard team won largely through its better physical condition and team work.
The make-up of the teams was:
HARVARD. BROWN.
Goodridge, r. r., Merriman.
Beardsell, r. r., Pevear.
Stevens, c. c., Hunt.
Clark, h. b. h. b., Chase.
Baldwin, g. g., Watson.
Goals, Beardsell 5; Time, two 20 minute periods; referee, J. W. Dunlop '97.
The next game is to be played next Saturday, the 23d, probably at Lower Mystic or Artificial Ponds.
