The report of the treasurer of the Athletic Association of the University of Pennsylvania, submitted Dec. 8, 1896, shows a deficit of a little over $6000. The chief items of expense are as follows:
Football expenses (exclusive of Harvard and Cornell games), $12,551.65
Rowing expenses, 8,766.42
Baseball expenses, 4,349.46
Track Athletics, 6,854.90
