The Harvard men who will compete in the fifth annual intercollegiate chess tournament between Columbia, Harvard, Yale and Princeton, which is to be played at the Columbia Grammar School in New York on December 28 to January 2 inclusive have been chosen and are as follows: Arthur W. Ryder '97, Elmer E. Southard '97; substitutes, Walter C. Arensburg '00, and James Hewins, Jr., '98.

On Saturday evening, December 12, at 7 o'clock, in Upper Dane, the Harvard Chess Club will play a team match with the Phillips Andover Club. The P. A. Club was organized last winter, and is a pioneer among chess clubs in preparatory schools. Although individual members of the two clubs have often met, next Saturday for the first time the two clubs as such will play a match.
The Andover team is made up as follows: H. M. Brown '97, W. J. Field '99, S. H. E. Freund '97, P. Lindenberg '99, J. R. Locke '97, C. E. Merrill '98, J. M. Morgan '98, R. Morris '97, H. M. Russell '98, E. L. Skinner '98. Substitutes-E. A. Fowler '98, C. E. Belding '97, and J. R. Holmes '97.
The following men will represent the Harvard Club: W. C. Arensberg 1900, F. F. Davis Gr., C. H. Dunn, Med., C. B. Escott; Gr., H. C. Fjoulke '98, J. Hewins Jr., '98, A. W. Ryder '97, E. E. Every member of the Harvard Club, and any others interested in chess are urged to be present, in order that the Andover Club may receive a cordial reception. Andover graduates are especially invited.
