Yesterday afternoon '97, in the final game for the championship, defeated '99 by the score of 10 to 0. The Seniors had an easy time of it, the result of the game being never in doubt. '97 gained through tackle almost at will, and their line as a rule, held strongly. In the first half '97 outplayed '99 at every point and scored twice, one of the touchdowns being made by Carret after a brilliant 75 yard run on a fake kick. In the second half, '97 played on the defensive and merely tried to keep '99 from scoring. By the last part of the game, '97 seemed played out and the '99 backs gained ground steadily. Both teams played tackles back continually, but '97's formation seemed more effective.

For '97, Garrison played his usual strong game; on the offensive he is one of the best class team quarterbacks that there has been for some years, and if he was heavier he would be 'Varsity material. Hallowel kicked well and Sleeper and Scannell played strongly at tackle. For '99, Davis rushed well and Lloyd at guard made good holes through Scott.

Ninety-seven won the toss and took the side with the wind, which was blowing hard. Ninety-nine kicked off to Scannell. On the first play, '97 lined up in formation for a kick. The ball was given to Carret, who played between left end and tackle, and ran 75 yards for a touchdown. Hallowell missed an easy goal. Score, 4-0.

After '99's next kick off, the ball stayed near the centre of the field for a while. Finally '97 rushed the ball down the field, Scannell and Sleeper doing most of the work. On the thirty yard line they lost the ball on a fumble, but Williams broke through and blocked Brown's kick and fell on the ball. Carret gained three yards through right tackle, and Little made five yards. Here Little was injured and Scattergood took his place. Scannell made six yards and Sleeper carried it over for a touchdown. Hallowell punted to Garrison and kicked a goal. Score 10-0. For the rest of the half the ball remained near the centre.

During the second half '97 played on the defensive and '99's goal was never threatened. Towards the end of the half '97 weakened and '99 carried it steadily towards their line, gaining principally through tackle. At '97's 30 yard line Stowell gained three yards and when tackled passed it to Davis, who carried it over the line. The umpire, however, gave the ball to '97 on the ground that it was a forward pass. '99 soon secured it on a fumble, and on a double pass Farley ran around left end for an apparent touchdown. The umpire, however, decided that it had not passed through another's hands first, and gave the ball to '97. Time was called soon after with the ball on '97's 30 yard line. The line-up was:
