Trophies for the Yale Gymnasium

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Two trophies of especial interest have recently been placed in the trophy room in the Yale gymnasium. Both of them are footballs with silver plates attached. One was won in Yale's first Rugby victory over Harvard, on November 18, 1876, by a score of one goal to nothing. The other bears the following inscription: "This ball was won by Harvard from the Montreal Football Club, representing all Canada; presented by Harvard to Princeton, and won by Yale from Princeton on Thanksgiving Day, 1876-Yale two, Princeton nothing."
