The regular weekly meeting of the Freshman Debating Club was held last night in Sever 11. The question for debate was "Resolved, That capital punishment be abolished." The principal disputants for the affirmative were S. B. Southworth and F. W. Aldred; for the negative, J. H. Eaton and R. L. Reed. The judges decided in favor of the negative. After the announcement of the decision the debate was thrown open to the house and several men spoke from the floor.
The speakers on the whole showed a fair amount of ability and earnestness in speaking that promises well for the future of the club.
