Princeton's Sesquicentennial.

Princeton is celebrating this week her sesquicentennial anniversary with appropriate exercises and a holiday of three days. Yesterday was the first day of the celebration and was given over to a commemorative religious service preceeded by an academic procession, a reception of delegates and other exercises. Today is "Students Day" and will be the principal day of the celebration. The grounds of the college and the various buildings have been decorated and the town has erected a triumphal arch over one of the principal streets. This morning there will be an academic procession followed by literary exercises, and in the afternoon a football game between Princeton and the University of Virginia. This evening there will be a large torchlight parade and illumination of the campus. Both graduates and undergraduates will participate in the parade and there will be numberless striking effects. A delegation from Yale will take part, and the procession will be reviewed by President Cleveland. Beside the usual floats and transparencies many electrical devices will be used.

The sesquicentennial marks the change from Princeton College to Princeton University. In commemoration of the change a new seal has been struck. A large banner has been given by the ladies of Princeton, a medal issued and a handbook published. Three Princeton graduates have been chosen to take the most prominent part in the exercises. Dr. Howard Duffield '73, will deliver the address of welcome; Dr. Henry Van Dyke '73, will be the poet, and Professor Woodrow Wilson '79, the orator.

Tomorrow there will be a procession and anniversary exercises with a reception to the President and Mrs. Cleveland, and a glee club concert. In connnection with the celebration clas reunions are being held and the occasion is marked by a great revival of Princeton spirit among all the graduates. Harvard's representative is President Eliot who made an address yesterday in behalf of the colleges.
