NEW HAVEN, CONN., May 23. - The Yale campus was crowded this afternoon with spectators and students to witness the annual "slapping" of the lucky candidates for elections to the senior societies. Each present member of the societies wended his way through the crowd, found the candidate he sought and tapped him on the back, as the crowd cheered for the successful man.
