CREW NOTES.

Yesterday the 'varsity crew went back to its barge after a week in the shell. A slight accident delayed the crew for a short time as they were starting off for the afternoon row. The tide was low and in launching the barge a rock was struck, knocking a hole in the bottom. This was soon patched up. The makeup of the crew was considerably changed on account of the absence of a number of men. Captain Bullard watched the crew from the launch. He has a lame arm and will probably not row for several days. Hollister and Perkins did not row yesterday as was expected, but will be on hand today. Jennings '98 was transferred to the freshman crew and rowed No. 3 in the boat. He is at the freshman training table.

Wrightington and Watson were taken from the sophomore boat to take the places of the absent men. The make-up was: Stroke, Watson; 7, Wrightington; 6, Watriss; 5, Stevenson; 4, Fennessy; 3, Shepard; 2, Lewis; bow, Damon.

Mr. Watson took the freshman crew out with the 'varsity yesterday. He started the two from the boat house and followed them in the launch to the Union Boat House and back, a distance of about four miles. About 34 strokes to the minute was the 'varsity's time, while the freshman had it up to 36 to the minute.

Sophomore Crew.An important change was made in the Sophomore Crew yesterday, Sleeper taking the place of Chatman at 3. Sleeper has only been training a few days, but he was a substitute last year, and rowed in the crew last fall. Gleason and Rantoul still alternate at bow, and it is hard to decide which of them is the better. The crew has been rowing a shell for several days, but they cannot yet keep it on an even keel. They were coached yesterday by Mr. Watson in the launch, but were only out a short time. Watson and Wrightington were put into the 'varsity to take the places of the men who are sick. The order of the crew yesterday was as follows:

Stroke, Watson; 7, Wrightington; 6 White; 5, Kernan; 4, Dunlop; 3, Sleeper; 2, Cornwell; bow, Gleason.
