The 'varsity team played a six inning game with the freshman nine yesterday afternoon and won by a score of eight to five. Buckman and Paine were the battery for the freshmen while Cozzens and Slade, the freshman battery played with the 'varsity. The game was interesting and the freshmen showed that they have the making of a good nine. They play a good fielding game but are weak at the bat.
McVey played well at third base making one pretty stop. Hall and Walker were both tried at first base. Walker is poor on high balls but is better on pick-ups than Hall. They are about equal in batting. The outfield play a good fielding game but are weak at the bat with the exception of Chandler who plays right field.
The 'varsity showed great improvement in base running and also hit Paine quite freely.
Lord '97, played third base in place of Winslow who will not be able to play for a day or two.
