Hon. Alpheus Brown Alger, ex-mayor of Cambridge, died at his home in North Cambridge Saturday morning, after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Alger was born in Lowell, Mass., Oct. 8, 1854, and attended the public schools of that place. He graduated from Harvard in 1875. He studied at the Harvard Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1877. He held many public offices, having been mayor of Cambridge in 1891-92.
