NEW HAVEN, Conn., Feb. 20. - The Yale College Library has sent out a circular letter to the alumni asking for funds. It is stated that the needs of the institution are growing in proportion to the gain in other ways, and that while the library is well filled, there are not sufficient funds with which to keep the books up in good condition. This appeal is due largely to the fact that the $50,000 left by the Phelps estate and which has been used in aid of the library, has now been expended in the construction of a gateway between Lawrence and Welch dormitories.
