Yesterday afternoon at a little after two o'clock the body of Dr. Elliot F. Rogers, Instructor in Chemistry was found in the lecture room of the upper story of Boylston Hall. He was last seen alive in the laboratory at about noon. Dr. Rogers had been unwell for some days, although he did not discontinue his attendance at the laboratory. At the time of his death he had apparently been holding in his hand a small beaker. The cause of death is not known as yet, but an autopsy will be held this morning.
Dr. Rogers graduated from Harvard in 1890. In 1891 he received the degree of A. M. and in 1892 he was an assistant in Chemistry. He received the degree of Ph. D. in 1894. A Parker fellowship was awarded to him for the year 1894-95 and he studied at the University of Leipzig during that time. He was appointed Instructor in Chemistry this year.
The parents of Dr. Rogers in Chicago were immediately notified of his death and will arrive in Cambridge tomorrow afternoon.
