At the request of some of the alumni Professor Lane, during his visit to Europe last summer, sat for his portrait to the distinguished French artist, Bonnat. The portrait, which is to be presented to the University, has lately arrived and may be seen for a time at the gallery of Messrs Doll and Richards, in Park street, Boston. The likeness of the great scholar is said to be an excellent one in every way.
