The 'varsity defeated the academy team at Exeter Saturday. The contest, although not close, was interesting on account of the brilliant fielding of both nines. The work of the 'varsity, both in the field and at the bat, was encouraging. Four of the seven runs were earned and sharp fielding prevented Exeter from scoring oftener. Wiggin made two phenomenal catches in center field and Paine and Whittemore also fielded well. C. J. Paine was in the box for six innings and pitched well. Highlands pitched the last inning. The game was called at the end of the seventh inning in order to enable the Harvard nine to catch the train. The score:
HARVARD.
