In response to Captain Griffin's call for candidates for the ninety-six nine, twenty-four men presented themselves yesterday. The material seems to be excellent, and the men are working with a great deal of snap, so that the prospects for a good team are very good.

It is very much desired to have more candidates for the battery position; it is earnestly hoped that these will come out as soon as possible, as the time for the class games is not very far distant.

The names of the candidates and the positions for which they are trying are as follows.

Catchers: Morton and Henry.

Pitchers: Austin, Osborn and C. Stillman.

First base: Captain Griffin, J. Warren, Armstrong.

Second base: G. L. Wrenn, MacCurdy, H. W. Porter, Mason, Scott.

Third base: F. Hoppin, H. Grew.

Shortstop: Whittemore, Ingalls.

Outfield: R. B. Merriman, H. W. Salmon, A. Codman, S. Heckscher, Murdock, J. N. Blye, A. Rodman.
