At the semi-annual election of the Yale Union, the following officers were elected for the remainder of the year: President, W. H. Leete '94, of Thompsonville, Conn.; vice-president, R. S. Baldwin '95, of New Haven; secretary, B. M. McKeever '94, of Chicago; treasurer, H. S. Dawson '94, of New Haven; executive committee, Gillespie '94, of New York, and Tyler '95, and W. H. Clark '96, of New Haven.
The Yale University faculty has decided to establish two prizes of $100 and $50 respectively, for the encouragement of extemporaneous speaking. These prizes will comprise the income of a sum of money left for the purpose by the class of '47. The competition will be open to members of the two upper classes only.
