Princeton-U. of P. Track League.

Considerable space has recently been devoted by some of the daily papers, notbly the Philadelphia Ledger and the New York World, to statements in regard to the probable formation of a dual league in track athletics between Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania. Upon the authority of the officers of the Princeton Track Association, the statement is made that no communication whatever in regard to the matter has been received by them from the organization of U. of P., and that, so far as Princeton is concerned, the reports published in the daily papers are absolutely without foundation.

The Pennsylvanian, however, which looks with favor on such a league, and which thinks its formation probable, says in its issue of January 5th: "The games would be held in Philadelphia, probably on the University grounds, probably one or two weeks before the Mott Haven games. As Pennsylvania stood third, ahead of Princeton last year, it is probable that Princeton will be more ready to join such a league.

Should the games be held in Philadelphia, they could easily be made a financial success. The interest in any contest between the two institutions has of late grown so intense that even a field day in which they strove for glory would be attended by many enthusiastic supporters of both colleges. The financial success of such an event could be further assured by the number of supporters of both institutions who are in Philadelphia.
