The annual report of President Dwight of Yale University for the year ending December 31, 1892, includes a general review of the improvements of the past year, and contains numerous suggestions for other lines of improvement. The changes in the faculty are reviewed as indicative of a general strengthening in instruction throughout all departments. The desirability of founding a chair in architecture in the art school is mentioned. The report calls attention to the significant fact that the Yale faculty includes 30 more instructors than last year and 78 more than in 1886. The need of an endowment of $2,000,000 for supporting the faculty is mentioned. The general receipts of the university the last year were $520,246 and the expenses $532.570. The total number of students is mentioned as 1969. against 1784 a year ago Four hundred and twenty-one persons received degrees at the last Commencement. The librarian's report shows an addition of G740 volumes the past year and 11.3000 pamphlets, the most important addition being a gift of a part of Ex-President Porter's philosophical library.
