Mott Haven Teams.

Fifteen candidates for the Mott Haven Team will go the training table at Miss Cotter's this morning. This is a week earlier than any candidates went to the table last year, but only those who are expected to do exceptional work are among the fifteen. About eight others will be added next Monday, April 24, and still more will be taken on from time to time as they show good signs of being promising men. Seven of last year's winners are still in the University, but either have not been training regularly until within a few days or do not expect to appear on the track at all this year. They are E. W. Pinkham M. S., F. F. Carr M. S., G. Collamore '93, J. L. Norton '95, O. W. Shead '93, G. R. Fearing '93 and P. W. Davis '93. Fearing is rowing, Carr will be unable to run this year. The rest will, probably be in condition to go to the training table before many days. The fifteen who will go today are E. B. Boss '94 who won the broad jump at New York; C. R. Bardeen '93, mile walk, second at the Yale games, third at New York; A. L. Endicott '94. mile walk, first at Yale, S. M. Merrill '94, quarter mile run, second at New York; J. Corbin Gr., half-mile run, first at Yale. second at New York; T. E. Sherwin '94, third in the high jump at Yale, and tied for third in the pole vault at New York; H. M. Wheel wright '94, third in the pole vault at Yale, and tied for the same event at New York; W. L. Thompson '93, third in the 220 yards dash at Yale; A. Blake '93 and D. W. Fenton '95, mile run; F. S. Pratt '94, bicycle; W. H. Shea L. S. hammer and shot; F. W. Bingham '95, 220 and 440 yards dash; K. Brown '93, high hurdles: L. Sayre '96, 100 and 220 yards dash. Sayre and Shea are the only men who have never been on the team.

About twenty-five other men have thus far shown such ability that they will be carefully watched for the next two or three weeks. Among that number are M. Ladd '94, J. P. Whittren '95, W. F. Baker '93. H. R. Storrs '96, A. A. Lefurgey L. S., W. F Garcelon L. S. for the sprints; J. O. Nichols L. S., J. L. Coolidge '95 for the mile run; C. G. Hubbell '93, H. C. Lakin '94, for the half-mile run; A. Coonley '94. F. C. Hicks L. S. G. D. Whitehead '96, T. Richardson '94, L. Bremer '96, W. F. Garcelon L. S., for the hurdles; F. S. Elliot '95 for the bicycle; C. Brewer '96, C. E. Hutchison '93, E W. Pinkham M. S. for the 440 yards dash; F. L. Dunlap Gr., W. E. Putnam '96. for the high jump; F. C. Hicks L. S, and T. Richardson '94 for the broad jump; N. D. Alexander L. S. and W. C. Mackie '94 for the hammer and shot.

It would be nonsense to give at this early date any estimate of what Harvard's chances will be. It is sufficient to say that the fact that some men go to training table earlier than usual shows that Mr. Lathrop and Captain Thompson mean to make every effort to win in both the Yale Games and the Intercollegiate Games at New York. The date of the Yale Games is May 13, that of the Yale "Mott Haven" Games May 27.
