The following is a brief individual criticism of the men now rowing on the 'Varsity Crew, first boat:
Stroke, Johnson hangs at the full reach; oar two high at the catch.
No. 7, Fearing meets his oar at finish; apt to rush at the last part of the slide on the recover.
No. 6, Cummings irregular at his time; breaks his arms at the catch.
No. 5, Stearns careless in his time; slide not firm at catch; goes back too far at the finish; does not use both hands in feathering his oar.
No. 4, Eddy lacks life and snap; does not straighten his arms at the shoot; apt to drop over at the full reach; does not use outside hand in feathering.
No. 3, L. Davis does not hold his slide long enough on the first part of the stroke.
No. 2, Blake time very poor, usually ahead at the catch; does not shoot his hands away promptly at the end of the draw.
Bow, Newell time irregular.
