New Courses in Geology.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In keeping with the progress of the Scientific School, the department of Geology offers two new half courses this year. They will be known as Geology 10 and Geology 11, and will be given by Mr. Henry Lloyd Smythe '83.

Geology 10 will be a general course in geological mapping, and will be as practical as possible. Points will be determined by triangulation, and the map thus made will be filled in by various methods. In the future this course will probably be given only in the summer.

Geology 11 will deal with mining geology, the general topics being the classification and theory of origin of ore deposits, prospecting and exploring for ores, and methods of mining. Mr. Smyth will direct the field work of students in selected mining districts during the summer vacation.
