At the last meeting of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences it was voted that students in the Lawrence Scientific School should in future be allowed to compete for honors at graduation. The section in the catalogue relating to honors will be amended to read as follows: "Honors of two grades-Honors and Highest Honors-are awarded by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences with the degree of Bachelor or Master of Arts or Bachelor of Science for great proficiency in any of the following departments," etc. No new departments, however, will be added to the list. Of course students in the Scientific School are permitted to try for honors in any of the departments mentioned, but considering the nature of the courses followed, and the fact that the work of the four years is so largely prescribed, it is improbable that honors will be taken by Scientific School students outside the departments of Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Natural History.
