Yesterday afternoon the football squad did lighter work than usual on account of the new men coming out. The following men came out for the first time: Kennedy L. S., who played fullback on the University of California team; H. Scott '98, captain of his freshman team; Holt, who played on this year's 'varsity; T. Hoague '98, Warren of the Cambridge High and Latin School, Stone '98, Tuckerman '97, Lee of Newton High, Seaver '98, Marvin '98, Woodward '98, Jackson '98, Whiteside L. S., Pitts '97, Knox '98, and Valentine '98. The line men practiced breaking through and falling on the ball, while the backs did some kicking and running with the ball, but no game was played at the close of the practice as usual, for fear of lameing up the new men. Woodward '98 was unfortunate enough to break his nose in the practice and had to stop playing. The usual prizes for drop-kicking, punting, and place kicking will be offered this year at the competition which will take place the first part of May.
