The Senior Crew.

It is too early yet, to say anything definite about the makeup of the senior crew, as the men are being constantly shifted from one seat to another. For the present the first crew is rowing as follows:

Others trying are Winslow, McAllister, Broughton, Chew, Soren, Collamore, Tripp and Farwell. There is no entire second crew and what men there are, are being moved so much that it is impossible to give their positions.

G. Burgess is doing the coaching and the work for the present consists only of dumbbell exercises and practice in the rowing machines. Mr. Lathrop has advised the men not to do any work outside till the weather is milder, so the usual long runs have been given up.

The crews are already using the sliding seats in spite of the short time they have been in training. This year much less attention than formerly is being paid to the details of the stroke, and the men are learning to row together more quickly. As yet, their faults hardly admit of classification. There is a general lack of accuracy noticeable, which is due to inexperience; but it is expected that one of the 'varsity crew will soon help in the coaching and the work will doubtless then improve more rapidly.
