Varsity Nine Candidates.

At the call for candidates for the 'varsity nine yesterday afternoon the following men presented themselves: pitchers, W. B. Dinsmore, '93, L. W. Gale. '94, J. A. Highlands, L. S. S., A. A. Highlands, '95, J. P. Keefe, '96, G. B. Wilson, '94, J. Wiggin, '93, J. L. Worden, Sp., and A. O. Young, Law; catchers, E. E. Clark, '94, J Corbett, '94, G. S. Henry, L. S. S., J. Hickey, and F. Mason, Law. These men were coached during the afternoon by Keefe.

For some reason there were only four candidates for other positions, so there will be another call this afternoon at four o'clock in the Carey Building. Every one who expects to try for a position on the team must hand in his name to-day. Work will begin immediately. It is very important that all who have played before should report to the captain of the team. Although most of last year's players are back in college, there will probably be several places to be filled by new candidates. In fact all nine positions are open to the best men in the university whether new or old, and an equally fair chance will be given to all.
