A new medical department is soon to be added to the courses now offered at the Johns Hopkins University. Miss Mary Elizabeth Gerrett of Baltimore, who has before given large sums of money to the university, has given sufficient money to start the proposed medical school for women in which they will have the same chance for study as men. Miss Garrett in giving this endowment stipulates that this department shall be an integral part of the university. Four years will be devoted to the course; the instruction given will require a knowledge of the preliminary medical course which is now prescribed in the university register.
