Scratch Races.

The scratch races of the Harvard Rowing Club were held yesterday afternoon over a straight away course, starting from the Weld Boat House, and extending a quarter of a mile down stream. There were seven crews entered which made it necessary to row the race in two heats. In the first heat the following crews competed: Crew 1-R. Stone '93, C. Morgan '94, G. Hay, L. S., A. A. Beebe '94. Crew 2-G. R. Holliday, L. S., C. R. Stetson '94, C. Nichols '94, R. C. Robbins '92. Crew 3-J. W. Lund, L. S., R. C. Larrabee '93, C. R. Sturgis '93, W. O. Taylor, D. S. Crew 4-A. F. Cosby '94, J. M. Hurley '94, W. J. Moore '94, L. A. E. Ahlers '94. The heat was won by crew 3, with Crew 2 in second place.

In the second heat the contesting crews were: Crew 5-G. D. Curtis '93, F. C. Bosler '94, A. M. Crane '94, W. B. Macdonald '94. Crew 6-D. C. Percival '91, R. J. Cary, L. S., Barnes, L. S, Oliver '92. Crew 7, A. H. Williams '91, E. M. Hurley '94, C. N. Barney '94, J. M. Morton '91. The heat was won by crew 5, with crew 6 second.

The first and second boats in the preliminary heats rowed in the final. This was won by crew 6, of which C. W. Purrington was coxswain; crew 2 was second, S. Paine, L. S., coxswain.
