The Boston Athletic Association opened the season of outdoor games on Irvington Oval Saturday.

In the 120 yards hurdle race, O. W. Shead '93 (10 yds.), H. M. Wheelwright '94 (8 yds.) were both heat winners, but lost in the final. In this event F. W. Lord of the "Tech." who won third, broke the M. I. T. record by winning his heat in 17 2-5 sec. Of the ten trial heats of the 100 yards dash, nine were won by the following Harvard men: B. S. Prest '95, (8 yds.), 10 1-5 s.; E. W. Pinkham '92, (8 yds.) 10 2-5 s.; E. S. Bach '95, (7 yds.), 10 4-5 s.; W. E. Kent Sp., (7 yds.), 10 3-5 s.; W. E. Greenough '95 6 yds.), 10 3-5 s.; A. Dorman '94 (7 yds.), 10 3-5; N. W. Bingham '95, (4 yds.) 10 4-5 s.; W. L. Thompson '93, (2 yds.). 10 4 5. The final heat was won by Pinkham, Priest second and Kent third. Time, 10 1-5 s. J. W. Schereschewsky '95, was the only Harvard man in the mile run and he came in fourth. In the half mile run, F. C. Hinckley 95 (40 yds.) got second and J. O. Nichols, L, S., (5 yds.,) was third. The winner's time was 2 m., 6 4-5 s. All three prizes in the quarter mile run came to Harvard. H. C. Lakin '94, won the race in 54 2-5 s. John Corbin '92 (8 yds.) was second, and A. R. Whittier Jr., '94, (15 yds.) came in third. In the mile walk F. Johnson '95, 50 s. start over A. L. Endicott '94, the scratch man, won in 7 m., 15 3-5 s. Endicott was third. The surprise of the afternoon was in the running high jump. G. R. Fearing '93 failed at 5 ft. 8 1-2 in. E. B. Bloss '94 dropped out at 5ft. 6 1-2 in. C. D Heywood, M. I. T., won the event with an actual jump of 5 ft. 9 1-2 in. In the running broad jump Bloss made the farthest jump, clearing 21 ft. 1-2 in., but was too severely handicapped to win.
