Gold Oars for the 'Varsity Crew.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The members of '91 'varsity crew have just received very pleasant tokens of the appreciation the college at large has of their victory over Yale last June in the shape of miniature gold oars, on the sides of which are inscribed each man's name and some data concerning the race. The following correspondence is self-explanatory:

"The students of Harvard University take pleasure in presenting to the members and coxswain of the '91 'varsity crew these gold oars as a token of appreciation of the hard work by which the crew won its victory over Yale.

Mr. George Howard Kelton. Captain University Crew, Cambridge, Mass."

"To the students of Harvard University.

In behalf of the Ninety-one University crew I wish to thank the members of the University who took such a pleasant way of showing their interest in rowing and their appreciation of the victory last year. Such tokens as these gold oars add greatly to the pleasure which one feels in having won a race, for they are material signs of the interest of the college.

Yours very truly,THOMAS N. PERKINS."
