The candidates for the '97 crew have now been in light training for about a week. The chances for a strong crew this year are encouraging, for not only are most of the old men out but there are also several promising new candidates; nevertheless it is hoped that any man who is interested in rowing will join the squad immediately after the mid-years when regular training will begin. The crew will row as nearly as possible the English stroke and will have one man at least in the boat who rowed in the trial races last autumn.
