At a concurrent meeting of the faculties of both the academic and scientific departments at Yale last Wednesday, it was voted that the freshman class should be prohibited from engaging in any intercollegiate contest in base-ball during the season.
The rule thus made is one which has never been made before in the history of the college. A class has been debarred from playing a single game because of some culpable act, but never before has it been prohibited from any line of athletics during an entire season.
All the new material in '96, in which the class was rich, will be unable to be utilized. and Yale's 'varsity nine is handicapped and crippled.
This action is only a small part of that comemplated by the Yale Faculty. The individual cases of the freshmen concerned in the disorder have not, except in a single instance, been disposed of vet.
These will be taken up at another meeting of the Yale instructors, and each separate case tried on its own merits.
