Thursday's matches decided that Read and Chase are to play in the finals. The match will be played to-day at 2 p. m. on the Cary court. As the tournament has been so large it has been judged best by the Committee to give the second prize in singles to the runner up.

Matches played on Thursday resulted as follows:

Boyden beat Pier, 6-3, 6-5; Chase beat Boyden, 6-1, 6-1; Read beat Gosline, 6-5, 6-5; Read beat Lyman, 6-1, 5-6, 7-5.

In the Consolation matches Frothingham beat Bradlee, 6-5, 6-3; Robinson beat Howard, 4-6, 6-4. 6-3; Winslow beat Simonds, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

In the doubles,

The Frothingham Bros. beat Sand and Nichols, 6-4, 6-2.

The following matches will be played in the Consolations, at 12m. Ingraham vs. Leonard, at 4. Curtis vs. winner of Ingraham-Leonard.

The double matches will be as follows:

At 1.30 p. m. Coues and Coues vs. Gosline and Rhodes.

At 2.30 p. m. Hand and Parker vs. Page and Leonard; Boyden and Bradlee vs. Dodge and Pier.

At 4 p. m. Paine and Huidekoper vs. winner of Hand and Parker-Page and Leonard.
