About sixty-five men have begun training for the Yale 'varsity nine. Last Monday Captain Murphy gave the candidates some light work in the gymnasium and a brisk mile run; next week regular work in the cage will be begun. Of last year's nine and substitutes the following men are now in college: Bowers, pitcher; McClung, first base; Beall, second base; Murphy, short stop; L. Bliss, third base; Case, left field; Jackson, catcher, and Kedzie, substitute.

The most promising candidates from the freshman class are Norton, formerly of Dartmouth; Stevenson, of Exeter; Carter of Staten Island Athletic Club; Davis of Williston; Cole, of Pottstown and Rustin and Sheffield of Andover.
