Candidates for the Nine.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Eight candidates for catcher and ten for pitcher presented themselves yesterday in response to the call for material for the battery. They will be coached from now on regularly by Keefe. Manager White has drawn up the contract and in case a baseball captain is not elected soon Keefe will take entire charge of the candidates until the vacancy is filled. The infielders and outfielders will not be called out until after the midyears.

Letters have been sent to the men who played in the Yale games last year, asking each man to send by mail his first and second choice for captain. In this way it is hoped soon to elect Cook's successor.

Following is the list of the candidates for the battery:

Catchers: D. D. Scannell '97; J. H. T. Martin, Jr. '96; J. H. Hickey, L. S.; I. Bowditch '97; G. S. Henry, L. S. S.; G. A. Kaven '95; E. I. Manley, Gr.; W. J. O'Malley, Jr. '96.

Pitchers: A. A. Highlands '95; E. E. McCarthy, L. S. S.; E. K. Bowser '96; T. Bouve, Jr. '96; Fuller '96; E. W. Ames '96; W. Ames '95; Armstrong '96; E. M. Gregory '97; J. W. Goodwin, Jr. '95.
