Nearly 40,000 people saw Yale defeat Princeton yesterday, at the Manhattan Athletic Grounds.

At about three o'clock the elevens took their positions as follows:

Princeton had won the toss and she started with the wedge and Poe gained eight yards. Flint started to run but Heffelfinger broke through and downed him with a loss of eight yards. Poe tried again without gain and Homans punted to Yale's 20-yard line. McClung gained 15 yards. After three downs Bliss punted and it was returned by Homans. For some time the play went back and forth, neither side making gains of great importance. Yale ran better but Homans out-punted Bliss.

The rain began to come down heavily and the grounds were muddy, as in fact, they had been during the whole game. Princeton began to show the stronger play, but was set back repeatedly for offside play. At the end of the first half, however, Yale had carried the ball to Princeton's 25-yard line. Time was called just as Poe had made again of three yards. Score, 0-0.

Yale began the second half with strong rushing. Winter especially distinguishing himself. McCormick took the ball across the line. No goal. Score, Yale 4, Princeton 0. After small gains by Flint and Poe, the fumbled ball was dropped on by Hinckey. McClung made a beautiful criss-cross play and gained 25 yards, and Winter followed this up with a touch down. The goal was again missed, leaving the score 8-0 in favor of Yale. Princeton seemed to be weakening. She lost the ball, which was soon carried to her 15-yard line by Yale. McCormick fell back 15 yards and kicked a beautiful goal from the field. Score, 13-0. A little later Homans missed a goal from the field by a few yards, and then Yale began to gain steadily. Homans, however, managed to reach Yale's 35-yard line with a punt. McClung gained 20 yards and Bliss followed with the finest play of the game. Assisted by Heffelfinger's beautiful interference he passed Princeton's left end. Finally King was the only man left between the runner and the goal. He missed and Bliss made the touch down after a run of 65 yards. This rush was entirely unlooked for, as, with the exception of McClang's 20-yard gain immediately preceding it, the previous play had been tame. The goal kicked was the first in the game from a touch down. This left the score 19-0 in Yale's favor and no more points were made by either side. Princeton, however, had gone bravely to work again, and had made 6 yards on the V and 8 on Poe's rush, before time was called. Yale's record is thus preserved clean, not a point having been scored on her during the whole season.
