The juniors beat the Manual Training School 10 to 0 in a loosely played game on Norton's field yesterday afternoon. Cambridge had the ball at the start and gained five yards with a wedge. They then rushed it steadily down the field till within fifteen yards of Ninety-three's line by hard, sharp rushes and good blocking off. Ninety-three's play at this time was miserable, every man in the line allowing himself to be blocked off without a struggle. At the fifteen-yard line, however, the team took a brace and got the ball on four downs. They then worked it up the field again till Duffield was finally pushed over for the first touch down. He kicked the goal himself.
There was no more scoring in the first half, but in the second the juniors scored again on a fluke. They had worked the ball down to Cambridge's 20-yard line and then lost it on four downs, when Rogers broke through and got the ball on a tumble. There was but one man between him and the line and he easily scored. No goal. There was no more scoring after this.
During the first half the juniors played a fair offensive game, but their tackling was wretched, and the Training School boys blocked them off with little difficulty. In the second half they broke through and tackled much better, but went all to pieces when they had the ball themselves. Their game throughout was very unsteady and apt to be careless, especially on the ends. The end men constantly over ran their man or let him pass them. The whole team continues to try to tackle men round the neck.
The teams lined up as follows:
C. M. T. S. HARVARD '93.
Eaton, (left-end) Chew.
Richards, (tackle) Pike. (Ellsworth)
Scotton, (guard) Broughton.
Wiseman, (centre) Rogers.
Allyn, (guard) Slade.
Vaughn, (tackle) Carey.
Gass, (right-end) Dibblee.
Manning, (quarter-back) Stevens
Pullen, (half backs) Thacher.
Whittemore. (half backs) Parker.
Moore, (full-back) Duffield.
