The finest exhibiton of ball playing seen in a class game for some time was given yesterday afternoon in the contest between '96 and '95. In the first inning, '95 was unsteady and made three errors, but after that, her fielding was perfect. '96 was even better, only a single error marring her record. This is the more remarkable as only four men struck-out in the game, and there were not a few hard hit balls.
Ames pitched a good game for the freshmen and succeeded in holding down his opponents to two hits, one of them a scratch. Reed also did well, and scattered the eight hits so that they were of little effect. The game, however, was lost for '95 in the first. Then a couple of hits and three bad errors netted three runs, and the score stood three to nothing through the remaining eight innings.
The score:
NINETY - SIX.
