The first indoor meeting of the Interscholastic Athletic Association was held Saturday evening in Mechanics hall. under the auspices of the B. A. A. The association was formed last year at the instance of several Harvard graduates who offered a cup to be competed for annually by the preparatory schools of New England. The first games were held in March 1889, on Holmes field.

Eleven events were contested Saturday. They were: 40 yard dash, 880 yard walk, 440 yard run, standing high jump, running high kick, putting the 16 pound shot, running high jump, fence vault, pole vault, and 880 yard run. Many promising young athletes were brought out, and every event was well contested. The championship banner was won by the Roxbury Latin School, with a score of 41. Hopkinson's was second with a score of 19. T. E. Sherwin of the Roxbury Latin won more events than any other individual. He is an excellent general athlete and was last year captain of his school nine.
