Yesterday afternoon, on Jarvis field, '91 defeated '93 in the deciding game for class championship by a score of 8-6. Both teams at times played well and were liberally applauded through out the entire game. Ninety-one used their weight to advantage at critical moments and in this way often gained sufficient ground to enable them to retain possession of the ball. The game was unsatisfactory on account of darkness, the second half lasting only five minutes.

Shortly before 4.15 the teams lined up. Ninety-three formed a V and gained several yards by it. Short, sharp rushes followed in quick succssion and on each of them '93 gained. An unfortunate off-side play gave them five yards more; which brought the ball within a few yards of '91's goal. The ball was then passed to Ellsworth who rushed it over, and Duffield kicked a goal. Score, 6-0. Time, 8 minutes.

Ninety-one also formed a V and gained 35 yards by two long rushes. The ball was fumbled badly but '91 managed to keep it. The third down was called with '91 within five yards of '93's goal. It was necessary to carry the ball over the line or lose it to '93. Here Moen made a short, hard rush and fell across the line, scoring a touch-down from which Blaney failed to kick a goal. Score, 6-4.

Ellsworth caught the ball in front of the line but had scarcely started to rush before he was downed. Duffield kicked and through a fumble '93 again secured the ball. Another five yards was given to '93 but the ball soon afterwards went to '91 on four downs. Some unimportant rushes and a fumble followed and then Blaney made a quick dash towards '93's goal and White scored a touch-down. Again no goal. Score, 8-6. Time 22 minutes.

Ninety-three made a wedge at the 25 yard line. Duffield kicked and '91 returned the ball, but on the exchange '93 gained greatly. '91 got the ball on four downs but quickly lost it for holding. The ball was passed to Duffield as if for a kick. He however passed it to Thatcher who made a fine rush. In the scrimmage of the next rush the ball was lost to '91. Winthrop's offside play gave '93 five yards and they followed this up by getting possession of the ball. Duffield made a pretty rush but the ball went to '91. White was slightly in Jared at this point and Nichols took his place. Time was called with the ball near '91's goal.

Ninety-one failed to gain at the beginning of the second half and the ball was passed to Moen. He was anxious, however, to return the ball and instead of kicking made a beautiful rush around the end. This rush practically put an end to all chances of '93's scoring. '91 gradually worked the ball nearer '93's goal but time prevented them from scoring again. Final score, 8-6.

The elevens were made up as follows: Ninety-one-rushers, Corning, Harris, Winthrop, Finlay, McLeod, Mason, Crosby; quarter-back, Guerin; half-backs, White Blaney; full-back, Moen.

Ninety-three-rushers, Collamore, Ellsworth, Rogers, Bartlett, Slade, Cary, Dibblee; quarter-back, Malone; half backs, Thatcher, Parker; fullback, Duffield.

Referee, Carpenter, L. S.; umpire, J. H. Hunt, '92.
