The Thanksgiving Vespers will take place this afternoon at five o'clock instead of Thursday. A Harvest Cantata, the words written by J. F. Waller, L. L. D., and the music by George Garrett, M. A., Mvs. D., will be given by the united choirs of St. Paul's Church, Boston, and Harvard University. It was the old English custom to have songs and short cantatas at Harvest time and this was written for that purpose. The soprano solo will be sung by the boy soprano of St. Paul's Church, who has a beautiful voice; and there will be various other solos also.
Dr. Van Dyke is summoned to New York earlier than was his plan, and this morning (Tuesday) is his last day at prayers. The University is much indebted to him for his brilliant and successful service with us.
