Improvements in the Yale Tank.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Several changes were made in the Yale tank during the holidays for the purpose of increasing the number of strokes which it is possible to take per minute and to facilitate a sharper and steadier catch.

The tank is divided into six longitudinal compartments. The floor of the middle ones, on either side of the boat, has been leveled and raised about six inches. The ends of the tank nearest the dressing rooms have been changed so as to divide the water and cause it to flow back on either side of the middle channels.

This change it is thought will enable the crew to get a sharper catch when they first get on the water and, it is hoped, will save the time that has formerly been wasted in putting snap and vim into the crew's work. These improvements will enable the crew to row from sixteen to eighteen strokes per minute right away, whereas formerly this rate was never attained until the latter part of February.
