HARVARD BEATS DARTMOUTH.

Harvard, 10; Dartmouth, 9.

In spite of the chilly weather, nearly four hundred people turned out to watch the base-ball game yesterday afternoon between Harvard and Dartmouth, on Jarvis Field. They were rewarded by seeing one of the closest games played in Cambridge for years, in which good plays and costly errors mingled. The game was called at 3 p. m. Harvard went first to the bat.

FIRST INNING.- Camphell went out at first base after a missed third strike. Knowlton made a two-base hit, took third on a sacrifice by Quackenboss, but was left there by Henshaw flying out.

Dartmouth.- Williams went out at first on three strikes; Keay made a hit, took third on a wild throw and came home on Chandler's three-bagger after Dascomb had fouled out. McCarty flied out to Gallivan, leaving Chandler on third.- Score: Harvard, 0; Dartmouth, 1.

SECOND INNING.- Harvard-Willard flied out; Boyden out at first on a grounder to Williams; Gallivan put out at first on three strikes.

Dartmounth.- Gault struck out; Stark did the same. Artz knocked a grounder to third, who fumbled it, and came home on a wild throw and a combination of errors. Baehr flied cut to Knowlton.- Score: Harvard, 0; Dartmouth, 2.

THIRD INNING.- Mumford made a safe hit, stole second and third, Linn struck out, and Campbell flied out to Gault. Knowlton took his base on balls, but Quackenboss was put out at first on a grounder, leaving Mumford and Knowlton on bases.

Dartmouth.- Williams struck out; Keay hit safely to left, took third on a wild throw to second and came home on Dascomb's safe hit, the latter scoring on Chandler's three-baser. Mc-Carty was put out at first on a grounder to Boyden, as was Gault also on a grounder to Campbell.- Score: Harvard, 0; Dartmouth, 4.

FOURTH INNING.- Henshaw made a base hit; Willard and Boyden took their base on balls, filling the bases. Gallivan knocked a grounder to pitcher, forcing Henshaw, who was put out while running home, Mumford hit to centre, bringing in Willard and Boyden. Linn hit to right. Gallivan came in. Campbell went out on three strikes and Knowlton on a fly to left field.

For Dartmouth, Stark put out at first on a grounder, Artz hit safely, took second on a wild throw, third on a pass ball, coming home on Baehr's hit. Williams struck out, Keay made a base hit on which Baehr came in, but was put out in trying to steal second. Score: Harvard, 3; Dartmouth, 6.

FIFTH INNING.- Quackenboss batted a grounder, put out at first, Henshaw flied out, Willard hit safely to left, Boyden got first on an error of short stop, but Gallivan struck out.

Dartmouth.- Dascomb hit to centre and took third on a wild throw, but the next three men struck out.

SIXTH INNING.- Mumford went out on a grounder, short-stop to first. Linn got to first on an error, but Campbell flied out and Knowlton went out at first.

For Dartmouth, Stark struck out, Artz hit safely, took second on a wild throw and came home after Baehr had struck out, on William's three base hit. Keay flied out.- Score: Harvard, 3 Dartmouth, 7.

SEVENTH INNING.- Quackenboss and Henshaw flied out, Willard hit to centre for two bases but Boyden went out at first on three strikes.

Dartmouth.- Dascomb, out at first on a grounder to short-stop, Chandler hit safely but was put out trying to steal second, and McCarty struck out.

EIGHT INNING,- Gallivan hit safely and stole second; Mumford made a base hit, and Linn went out on a grounder, second to first. Gallivan scored on Campbell's sacrifice, Knowlton hit safely, bringing in Mumford and Quackenboss got his base on balls. Henshaw's muffed fly to centre brought in Knowlton and Quackenboss, and Willard's fly to centre was also muffed. Boyden struck out.

Dartmouth.- Gault and Stark made base hits, both scoring on Artz's twobagger. The next three men went out in order.- Score: Harvard, 7; Dartmouth. 9.

NINTH INNING.- Jones took Gault's place in left field. Gallivan's fly was muffed by pitcher, Mumford hit safely, Linn knocked a fly, which was muffed and Gallivan forced out. Campbell flied out, Knowlton hit to right for three bases, bringing in Mumford and Linn, and scoring on Quackenboss' hit. Henshaw flied out.

Dartmouth went out in order. Score: Harvard, 10, Dartmouth, 9.
