Only about one hundred spectators watched a very uninteresting game between Harvard and Pennsylvania on Jarvis Field, Saturday. When the game was called a strong easterly wind was blowing, and rain soon after came down in torrents, rendering the ground and ball very slippery and making fine plays impossible.

Pennsylvania took the ball, the quarter-back advanced a few yards, but Harding tackled him. Woodman stopped Graham's running and Harvard secured the ball in a few minutes. Wood, Butler and Saxe made short rushes. Ball was passed to Perry, but slipped through his hands and Wood of Pennsylvania got it. On four downs it returned to Harvard. Saxe ran through the centre and Boyden followed with a run. Harvard was now well up to the opposing line and Boyden rushed over, securing the first touchdown in five minutes. No goal; 4-0. On punt out, Perry muffed and Harding went to the five yard line. Saxe made a run, but Pennsylvania got the ball and Graham tried to kick the ball out, but it struck the posts. A rusher fell on it and Pennsylvania made a safety. Score 6-0. When the ball was brought out to the twenty-five yard line Woodman tackled the quarterback and Harvard got the ball. Boyden made a run, while Saxe did some magnificent blocking off. Pennsylvania had the ball again in a few minutes and kicked. Perry fumbled, but Butler made a touchdown. Ball punted out, but no goal. Score 10.0. Dewey ran out from twenty-yard line and Perry carried the ball back on kick of Graham to twenty-yard line. Boyden advanced ten yards. On fumble, Bancroft secured a touchdown. Saxe kicked a beautiful goal, although a high wind was blowing and the ball was very wet and heavy. Score 16-0. Hume ran, but was stopped, and Harvard took the ball on four downs. Saxe and Wood ran, and then Saxe made a long punt over Pennsylvania's line. Our rushers should have fallen on ball here, which would have obviated the necessity of having to go back to twenty-five-line. Cumnock stopped Dewey, and Butler tackled Hume. Time was called at Pennsylvania's twenty-yard line. Score 16-0.

Second Half.- Harding ran up to 30 yard line at the beginning of the second half, but the rush line could carry it no farther and Pennsylvania got the ball and advanced 10 yards. Saxe slipped on punt, but Boyden got back to 30-yard line and soon rushed over the line. No goal, but Cumnock falls on the ball over line. Goal. Score, 26-0, Hyneman took Zeigler's place in the rush line and Zeigler went to half-back, as Wood was disqualified. On muff of the guard, Bowser, who was playing back, Harding secured the ball and made a touchdown from the middle of the field. Goal; 32-0. The ball was kicked by Graham. Harvard's back, Harding secured the ball and made a touchdown from the middle of the field. Goal; 32-0. The ball was kicked by Graham. Harvard's back muffed, but got the ball on the run. Boyden made a short run as did Wood. Four downs. Bancroft scored on a fumble of Pennsylvania, after Trafford had stopped a kick by Graham. No goal; 36 0. Zeigler ran the ball by Bancroft, who allowed him to run around him. Pennsylvania kicked. Saxe got the ball and returned it, caught it again on the run but fumbled. Trafford picked it up and rushed ahead. Butler, Wood and Boyden advanced, and Saxe made the last touchdown and kicked the goal from one side. Final score; 42-0. The ball was in the middle of the field when time was called.

The make-up of the two teams was as follows:-

Harvard.- Rushers, Bancroft, Butler, Trafford, Markoe. Wood, Woodman and Cumnock; quarter-back, Harding; half-backs, Perry and Boyden; full-back, Saxe.
