The challenge cup given by Mr. R. P. Carroll, '85, and Mr. J. E. Thayer, '85, now held by Mr. J. B. Fletcher, '87, is to be competed for sometime between June 10th and 15th. The conditions under which this cup is offered are as follows: This cup is a perpetual challenge cup to be held for one year, and open to all members of the university. In the event of the holder's leaving college, the cup returns to the Boat Club. In case there are no challenges, the cup is held by the holder for the ensuing year, unless he leaves college.
The date for this race is appointed annually by the Boat Club for sometime in the spring.
In this race there is also a cup offered by the Boat Club for those who have never rowed a single scull race in college. This cup becomes the permanent property of the man winning it.
