A large number of students appeared in the gymnasium last evening to witness the athletic contests. Mason, '91, and Leavitt, '89, entered in the pole-vault and tied at 9 ft. Penny packer, '88, and Gibson, '88, put the shot, Pennypacker winning with a put of 34 ft. 8 in., Gibson's best being 31 ft. 8 in. The mile walk was contested by Brackett, Paine, Howe and Burlingham, all of '91. Won by Bracket in 8 min. 21 sec. Cogswell, '88, and Myles, '88, entered the half-mile run, the former winning in 2 min. 24 sec. As there was no contest in the high jump. the sports were finished by the mile run between Dana, '88, 30 yards handicap, and Davenport, '90. Davenport won in 5 min. 8 sec.
